Bank of Georgia supports talented and promising youth by creating diverse educational opportunities both in Georgia and abroad. Since 2023, the scholarship program of Bank of Georgia has been established in partnership with the country’s leading universities. Students from various fields can participate in the competition from the very first year and fully or partially fund their studies. The program already has over 350 scholarship recipients from different regions of Georgia.
One of the winners in 2025 is Lizi Lochoshvili, who studies psychology at Ilia State University. Before pursuing psychology, she studied medicine but soon realized that her true passion lay elsewhere:
“While studying medicine, I realized that the search for answers, research, and changes in the scientific discourse attracted me more than memorizing clinical procedures. Psychology unites fundamentally different methodologies and perspectives. It became a unique discipline for me, which ignited my desire to work proudly in this field throughout my life.”
Lizi obtained the scholarship on her first try, speaking sincerely about her plans, interests, and winning the jury’s approval during the interview:
“The scholarship is, of course, very important financially for a student. But personally for me, obtaining this scholarship was significant in another way. I felt that at the very first stage of studying my beloved field, I could be noticed, that the path I chose, which is quite challenging, is not only important for me but also that it wouldn't only be valued when I express my voice in the scientific field.”
Looking forward, Lizi wishes to enhance her qualifications and contribute to the development of her discipline in Georgia:
“I want to engage in as much research and practical activity as possible. The next step is a master's program in clinical psychology at a European university. There, I will learn more in-depth about all the mechanisms that interest me. For my doctorate, I am considering the United States, where the culture of psychological research is particularly developed. Ultimately, I plan to use my knowledge and experience for the advancement of my country, where mental health is still not viewed as a systematic priority.”
Along with her plans, Lizi also shared advice for future candidates:
“Don’t think about how you should be to be chosen. Based on my observations, this project is not looking for perfection in students; it seeks real people with their experiences, authenticity, and goals.”
Bank of Georgia will continue to discover and support interesting, motivated, and ambitious young people in the future.
